Genworth Canada supports many national and international causes, including a robust internal annual campaign for United Way and for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which in 2011 raised more than $100,000 in support of United Way programs across Canada and $32,725 for JDRF.
Our employees are active in their communities and contribute their time to various local causes, including most recently: The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Vancouver); Eden Foodbank (Mississauga); Hope Cottage (Halifax); and La Maison Benoît Labre (Montréal).
Habitat for Humanity Canada
Genworth Canada is a longstanding supporter of Habitat for Humanity Canada (HFHC). 2012 marked the third year of our $1 million three-year commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s “The Path to Home” project – a program that supports homebuilding grants in communities across Canada. Many of our employees sit on Habitat for Humanity Boards and participate in build projects throughout the country.
The Meaning of Home Contest
Since 2007 we also host the annual Genworth Canada Meaning of Home Contest in support of HFHC. This contest is a national writing contest for students in grades 4, 5 and 6 that has resulted in more than $450,000 being donated by Genworth Canada to more than 30 HFHC affiliates throughout the country.
