Enabling Responsible Homeownership
Since 1995 Genworth Canada has made homeownership possible for more than 1.2 million families across Canada. We work together with lenders, acting as a second set of eyes, to make sure that lending decisions are sound and to protect and preserve the stability of our housing market. We are also committed to educating first-time homebuyers so they can make responsible homeownership decisions. Our consumer website – homeownership.ca – gives homebuyers access to information and tools they need to make safe and informed decisions.
Supporting the Mortgage and Real Estate Industry
Genworth Canada supports the lenders, brokers, REALTORS and builders professional communities, by sponsoring organizations like the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP), the Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA), and the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).
We provide industry professionals with an extensive training program and other educational tools and resources to help them succeed and help them keep their customers well-informed about mortgage options and the overall homeownership process.
Promoting Financial Literacy
As a leader in mortgage education, we are committed to helping homebuyers elevate their financial understanding. We work closely with the Canadian Association of Credit Counselling Services (CACCS) to support financial literacy initiatives across Canada. We also conduct an annual financial fitness survey with CACCS in order to keep a pulse on the financial fitness levels of Canadians, their consumer confidence and their views on homeownership.
In 2012 we signed an agreement to sponsor the EnRICHed Academy – a first of its kind program designed to teach teenagers and young adults how to earn, save and invest their money. As part of our strategic alliance with EnRICHed Academy, we contribute content to help teach youth what they need to do in order to save for a down payment and become homeowners early in adult life.
